F-35 LIGHTNING II JOINT PROGRAM – OFFICE CRASH DAMAGED or DISABLED AIRCRAFT RECOVERY
The US Air Force F-35 Joint Program Office (JPO) is actively involved in the recovery of damaged or disabled F-35 aircraft, including efforts to restore them to operational status. This includes not only the physical recovery process but also developing specialized training and tooling for crash-damaged or disabled aircraft recovery (CDDAR).
CDDAR training:
The F-35 JPO hosts CDDAR courses to train personnel from the US military and international partners on how to safely recover crashed or disabled F-35s. These courses cover various scenarios, including nose gear collapses, pilot extraction, and aircraft hoisting.
