Lineage. Established as 926th Troop Carrier Group, Medium, and activated on 28 Dec 1963. Organized in the Reserve on 17 Jan 1963. Redesignated: 926th Tactical Airlift Group in 1 Jul 1967; 926th Tactical Fighter Group in 1 Apr 1978; 926th Fighter Group in 1 Feb 1992; 926th Fighter Wing on 1 Oct 1994; 926th Group on 17 Aug 2007; 926th Wing on 3 Oct 2014-.

Operations. Transportation of equipment and supplies for deployments worldwide. Flew C-130 aircraft into South Vietnam as part of the Air Force-wide program designed to provide the South Vietnamese with increased cargo capability before the war came to an end. Deployed in support of Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm, 1990-1991. Participated in deployments patrolling the no-fly zones over Iraq in support of Operation DENY FLIGHT, Operations NORTHERN and SOUTHERN WATCH, ENDURING FREEDOM and NOBLE EAGLE. Train pilots, sensor operators and other UAS crewmembers, and conduct combat surveillance and attack operations worldwide.
