Operations. Flew antisubmarine patrols along Pacific coast after the attack on Pearl Harbor. Engaged in air-ground training during 1943 and 1944. Trained with F-6s in Jan 1945 for duty overseas. Moved to France in Mar 1945. Flew visual-reconnaissance and photographic missions to provide intelligence for ground and air units. Returned to the US in Jul-Aug 1945; trained with F-6 and A-26 aircraft. Primary mission of Detachment 2 is to provide a broad spectrum of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance collection capabilities to combatant commanders in the Mediterranean region by deploying the RQ-4 Global Hawk to a wide range of locations throughout the area of responsability.
