4th OPERATIONS SUPPORT SQUADRON (ACC)

Lineage.  Constituted 4 Operations Squadron on 9 Dec 1958.  Activated on 25 Jan 1959.  Discontinued, and inactivated, on 1 Oct 1962.  Redesignated 4 Operations Support Squadron on 17 Apr 1991.  Activated on 22 Apr 1991.

Assignments.  4 Air Base Group, 25 Jan 1959-1 Oct 1962.  4 Operations Group, 22 Apr 1991-.

Stations.   Seymour Johnson AFB, NC, 25 Jan 1959-1 Oct 1962.  Seymour Johnson AFB, NC, 22 Apr 1991-.

Operations. Provides operations support, air traffic control, airfield and weather services, intelligence, weapons, tactics, training, operations plans, aircrew flight equipment and mission planning capabilities for four F-15E squadrons, two KC-135 squadrons and multiple staff functions. Also in control of the Dare County Bomb Range, a 46,000 acre, joint-use bombing and electronic range facility which is the largest bomb range on the east coast.
