Lineage. Organized as 112th Aero Squadron on 18 Aug 1917. Redesignated: 633d Aero Supply Squadron on 1 Feb 1918. Demobilized on 19 Aug 1919. Reconstituted and consolidated (1936) with ‘112th Observation Squadron which, having been allotted to Ohio National Guard, was activated on 20 Jun 1927. Ordered to active service on 25 Nov 1940. Redesignated as: 112th Observation Squadron (Light) on 13 Jan 1942; 112th Observation Squadron on 4 Jul 1942. Inactivated on 18 Oct 1942. Redesignated 112th Liaison Squadron on 2 Apr 1943. Activated on 30 Apr 1943. Inactivated on 7 Nov 1945. Redesignated 112th Bombardment Squadron (Light), and allotted to Ohio Air National Guard on 24 May 1946. Extended federal recognition as 112th Bombardment Squadron (Light) on 2 Dec 1946. Redesignated: 112th Fighter Bomber Squadron on 9 Jul 1952; 112th Fighter Interceptor Squadron in Jul 1955; 112th Tactical Fighter Squadron on 20 Aug 1962. 180th Tactical Fighter Group extended federal recognition on 15 Oct 1962. Redesignated 180th Fighter Group on 15 Mar 1992; 180th Fighter Wing on 11 Oct 1995-.
