Lineage. Organized as 113 Aero Squadron on 26 Aug 1917. Redesignated 634 Aero Supply Squadron on 1 Feb 1918. Demobilized on 31 Mar 1919. Reconstituted and consolidated (1936) with 137 Squadron which, having been allotted to Indiana National Guard, was organized on 1 Aug 1921. Redesignated 113 Squadron on 3 Jan 1923; 113 Observation Squadron on 25 Jan 1923; Ordered to active service on 17 Jan 1941. Redesignated: 113 Observation Squadron (Medium) on 13 Jan 1942; 113 Observation Squadron on 4 Jul 1942; 113 Reconnaissance Squadron (Bombardment) on 2 Apr 1943; 113 Reconnaissance Squadron (Fighter) on 15 Jun 1943; 113 Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron on 11 Aug 1943. Disbanded on 30 Nov 1943. Reconstituted on 21 Jun 1945. Redesignated: 113 Fighter Squadron and allotted to ANG on 24 May 1946. 113 Fighter Squadron extended federal recognition on 14 Apr 1947. Redesignated: 113 Fighter Interceptor Squadron on 11 Feb 1951; 113 Fighter Bomber Squadron on 1 Nov 1952;  113 Fighter Interceptor Squadron on1 Jul 1955; 113 Tactical Fighter Squadron in 1959; 113 Fighter Squadron on 15 Mar 1992; 113 Air Support Operations Squadron on 3 May 2008-.

Participated in Operation Southern Watch, Operation Northern Watch, Operation Joint Forge, Operation Noble Eagle, Operation Deep Freeze, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
