JOINT WARFARE ANALYSIS CENTER
The Joint Warfare Analysis Center (JWAC) has provided timely and accurate engineering and scientific analysis to military commanders and government officials to advance the national security strategy of the United States.
A functional component of the U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) in Omaha, Nebraska, since 2011, JWAC uses information provided by the intelligence community to analyze and recommend solutions to some of the most complex problems faced by our military and civilian leaders. JWAC supports both crisis operations and contingency planning. Among its customers are the combatant commands, the Joint Staff, and civilian agencies. Some of our scientists, engineers, and analysts are national experts in their area of expertise.
JWAC’s heritage can be traced back to engineers at the Naval Support Facility in Dahlgren that earned a reputation for innovative excellence supporting the 1979 Iranian hostage rescue mission. These engineers were brought together with scientists and analysts to form the Naval Warfare Analysis Center, which became the Joint Warfare Analysis Center in 1994. JWAC supported the nation in crises, often with team members deployed forward, from Operation ALLIED FORCE in the former Yugoslavia, to Operation ENDURING FREEDOM in Afghanistan, to Operation IRAQI FREEDOM, to humanitarian missions in Haiti.
JWAC, 400 people strong, has approximately 360 civilians and 40 military, comprised mostly of engineers, scientists, and analysts. JWAC has been recognized for excellence with the Joint Meritorious Unit Award five times, the Defense Modeling and Simulation Office’s Government Team Achievement for Modeling Analysis twice, and the Navy’s Nathaniel Stinson Equal Employment Opportunity Program Achievement Award for a small command twice.
