USAF PROFESSIONAL MILITARY EDUCATION

Air Force Professional Military Education (PME) is a career-long continuum of learning, administered by Air University, designed to develop Airmen into effective leaders and strategic thinkers at all ranks and career stages. The Global College of Professional Military Education (GCPME) offers both in-residence and distance learning formats for officers and enlisted personnel, covering leadership, joint operations, warfighting, and strategic thinking to prepare them for challenges in a global environment. Key programs include Airman Leadership School (ALS), Non-Commissioned Officer Academy (NCOA), Squadron Officer School (SOS), Air Command and Staff College (ACSC), and Air War College (AWC).

Officer PME:

Squadron Officer School (SOS): For company grade officers (like captains) to develop foundational leadership, communication, and warfighting skills.

Air Command and Staff College (ACSC): Prepares field-grade officers for positions of greater responsibility, focusing on air and space operations in a joint environment.

Air War College (AWC): Develops senior officers to lead at the strategic level in joint, interagency, and multinational operations.

School of Advanced Air and Space Studies (SAASS): Creates “warrior-scholars” skilled in developing and employing airpower in modern warfare.

Enlisted PME:

Airman Leadership School (ALS): A foundation for junior enlisted members to develop leadership and management skills.

Non-Commissioned Officer Academy (NCOA): Develops NCOs in team leadership, joint warfighting, and strategic thinking for tactical and operational levels.

Senior Non-Commissioned Officer Academy (SNCOA): Prepares chief master sergeants to be strategic-level leaders.
