60th OPERATIONS SUPPORT SQUADRON

Lineage. Constituted as 60 Airdrome Squadron on 25 Jan 1943. Activated on 1 Feb 1943.  Redesignated as 60 Airdrome Squadron (Special) on 16 Apr 1943.  Disbanded on 1 Apr 1944.  Reconstituted, and redesignated as 60 Operations Support Squadron, on 28 Oct 1991.  Activated on 1 Nov 1991.

Assignments. Second Air Force, 1 Feb 1943-1 Apr 1944.  60 Operations Group, 1 Nov 1991-.

Stations. Harvard AAB, NE, 1 Feb 1943; Davis-Monthan Field, AZ, 25 Mar 1943; Harvard AAB, NE, 2 May 1943; Topeka AAB, KS, 28 Jul 1943-1 Apr 1944.  Travis AFB, CA, 1 Nov 1991-.

Operations. Responsible for C-17 Globemaster III combat effectiveness by directing flight operations, war plans, aircrew/aircraft scheduling, combat tactics, aircrew training, cargo delivery, deployment planning and execution, simulator training, mobility processing, maintenance analysis and aircrew flight equipment functions. The 60th OSS coordinates with the host wing for airfield management, weather support and air traffic control.
