4th CIVIL ENGINEERING SQUADRON

Lineage.  Designated as Squadron C, 4 Airdrome Group on 28 Jul 1947.  Organized on 15 Aug 1947.  Discontinued on 1 Aug 1948.  Consolidated (3 Oct 1984) with the 4 Installations Squadron, Fighter, Jet, which was constituted on 14 Jun 1948.  Activated on 1 Aug 1948.  Redesignated:  4 Installations Squadron on 20 Jan 1950; 4 Civil Engineering Squadron on 1 Jul 1960; 4 Civil Engineer Squadron on 1 Mar 1994.

Assignments. 4 Airdrome (later, 4 Air Base; 4 Combat Support; 4 Support; 4 Mission Support) Group, 15 Aug 1947-.

Stations.  Andrews Fld (later, AFB), MD, 15 Aug 1947; Langley AFB, VA, 26 Apr 1949; New Castle County Airport (later, Newcastle AFB), DE, 1 Sep-16 Nov 1950; Johnson AB, Japan, 22 Nov 1950; Bofu AB, Japan, 24 Jan 1951; Suwon AB, South Korea, 20 Mar 1951; Kimpo AB, South Korea, 10 Aug 1951; Chitose AB, Japan, 11 Oct 1954-8 Dec 1957; Seymour Johnson AFB, NC, 8 Dec 1957-.

Operations. Direct support of F-15E Strike Eagle operations of the 4th Fighter Wing. The squadron improves, maintains and operates more than 373 facilities, 10 dormitories, and 686 housing units to include a geographically separated recreational site and county training range and provides fire protection, disaster preparedness, explosive ordnance disposal, environmental protection and maintains mobility readiness.
