49th CIVIL ENGINEER SQUADRON (ACC)

Lineage. Constituted as 49 Installations Squadron, Fighter, Jet, on 10 Aug 1948. Activated on 18 Aug 1948. Redesignated as: 49 Installations Squadron on 1 Feb 1950; 49 Civil Engineering Squadron on 1 Jul 1960. Inactivated on 1 Oct 1981. Activated on 15 Nov 1991. Redesignated as 49 Civil Engineer Squadron on 1 Mar 1994.

Assignments. 49 Air Base (later, 49 Combat Support) Group, 18 Aug 1948-1 Oct 1981 (attached to 6016 Air Base Wing, 1 Apr-18 Nov 1953). 49 Support (later, 49 Mission Support) Group, 15 Nov 1991-.

Misawa AB, Japan, 18 Aug 1948; Taegu AB, South Korea, 1 Dec 1950; Tsuiki Aux AB, Japan, 25 Jan 1951; Taegu AB, South Korea, 24 Feb 1951; Misawa AB, Japan, 1 Apr 1953-10 Dec 1957; Etain/Rouvres (later, Etain) AB, France, 10 Dec 1957; Spangdahlem AB, Germany, 25 Aug 1959-1 Jul 1968; Holloman AFB, NM, 1 Jul 1968-1 Oct 1981. Operations. Provide support for Air Force Contingency taskings and prepare Airmen in 16 diverse specialties to deploy in support of contingency taskings through six flights that deliver Engineering, Installation Management, Operations, Emergency Management, Fire Protection, and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD).
