492d SPECIAL OPERATIONS TRAINING GROUP DETACHMENT 2
The 492d Special Operations Training Group Det 2 assigned to 492d Special Operations Wing, Hurlburt Field, FL, operates as an initial cadre unit assigned as a detachment under the 492 Special Operations Training Group staff. Det 2 is the focal point for MC-130J courseware working groups and the conduit between AFSOC HQ staff, USSOCOM, and civilian contributors to the development of unique SOF capabilities, and Executing special operations core activities.
The 492 SOTRG Det 2 provides aircraft testing and development support, contract oversight, training courseware construction, and future MC-130J aircrew production to meet AFSOC’s and USSOCOM’s Capabilities Release (CR) priorities and is responsible for implementing USSOCOM’s latest capabilities on AFSOC’s most versatile aircraft, while also standing up its newest formal training program for SOF aviators.
