48th MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS SQUADRON

Lineage. Constituted as 48 Station Complement Squadron on 15 May 1943. Activated on 20 May 1943. Disbanded on 15 Apr 1945. Reconstituted, and redesignated as 48 Logistics Support Squadron on 1 Mar 1992. Activated on 31 Mar 1992. Redesignated as 48 Maintenance Operations Squadron on 25 Sep 2002.

Assignments. Third Air Force, 20 May 1943; 2 Bombardment Division, 6 Jul 1944-15 Apr 1945. 48 Logistics (later, 48 Maintenance) Group, 31 Mar 1992-.

Stations. Coronaca AAF, SC, 20 May-9 Aug 1943; Hether, England, 15 Sep 1943-15 Apr 1945. RAF Lakenheath, England, 31 Mar 1992-.

Operations. Ensures wing combat readiness and fleet health by providing command and control, analysis and scheduling of the wing’s F-15C, F-15D, F-15E aircraft and F100-PW-220 and F100-PW-229 engine fleet.
