Operations. Combat in the European Theater of Operations, flying medium twin-engine bombers, 14 May 1943-24 Apr 1945.  Disarmament of Germany Air Force, Jun-Sep 1945.  Trained in the Reserve, using trainers instead of bombers, 1947-1949.  Trained to become combat proficient in F-86 and, later, F-100 aircraft as part of Tactical Air Command, 1954-12957.  Replaced the 3540 Navigator Training Squadron on 1 Apr 1973 and assumed task of providing undergraduate navigator training for non-rated personnel of the USAF, Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve, and friendly foreign nations.  Later, in Jul 1976, added undergraduate navigator training of US Navy personnel and, in Jan 1977, of US Coast Guard personnel.  Began training female navigators in Mar 1977. Flight testing of the YAL-1 Airborne Laser Aircraft, 2002-2006. Performs flight testing on Northrop Grumman RQ-4 Global Hawk unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) used by the United States Air Force and Navy and the German Air Force as a surveillance aircraft.
