Lineage. Established as 451 Expeditionary Operations Group, and converted to provisional status, on 26 Jun 2009-. Activated on 2 Jul 2009. Inactivated in 1 Apr 2014.
Assignments. 451 Air Expeditionary Wing, 2 Jul 2009-1 Apr 2014.
Stations. Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, 2 Jul 2009-1 Apr 2014.
Operations. Provided a persistent and powerful airpower presence in the Afghanistan area of operations, close air support, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, command and control, personnel recovery and airborne datalink capabilities, operating A-10C Thunderbolt II, HH-60G Pave Hawk, E11 BACN, MQ-1 Predator and MQ9 Reaper. Deactivated when the wing was downsized to a group in 1 Apr 2014 as part of the Afghanistan drawdown.
