27th SPECIAL OPERATIONS SECURITY FORCES SQUADRON (AFSOC)

Lineage. Designated Squadron B, 27 Airdrome Group, on 8 Aug 1947.  Organized on 15 Aug 1947.  Discontinued on 1 Aug 1948.  Consolidated (12 Oct 1984) with the 27 Air Police Squadron, Fighter, Two Engine, which was constituted on 14 Jun 1948.  Activated on 1 Aug 1948.  Redesignated: 27 Air Police Squadron, Fighter, Jet, on 1 Dec 1949; 27 Air Police Squadron on 1 Feb 1950.  Inactivated on 16 Jun 1952.  Activated on 8 Jan 1958.  Inactivated on 1 Oct 1958.  Redesignated 27 Security Police Squadron on 28 Jan 1969.  Activated on 8 Jun 1969.  Redesignated: 27 Security Forces Squadron on 1 Jul 1997; 27 Special Operations Security Forces Squadron on 1 Oct 2007.

Kearney AAFld (later, AFB), NE, 15 Aug 1947; Bergstrom AFB, TX, 16 Mar 1949-16 Jun 1952 (deployed at:  Itazuke AB, Japan, 10 Dec 1950-30 Apr 1951, with advanced echelon deployed at Taegu AB, South Korea, Dec 1950-Jan 1951; Kunsan AB, South Korea, 1 May-23 Jun 1951; Itazuke AB, Japan, 24 Jun-22 Jul 1951).  Bergstrom AFB, TX, 8 Jan-1 Oct 1958.  Cannon AFB, NM, 8 Jun 1969-.

Operations. Secures special operations forces aviation assets, equipment, and personnel in-garrison and at deployed locations providing law enforcement, pass and registration services.
