Lineage. Established as 182 Tactical Fighter Group 15 Oct 1962. Redesignated 182 Tactical Air Support Group on 16 May 1969; 182 Fighter Group on 15 Mar 1992; 182 Airlift Wing on 1 Oct 1995-.

Assignments. Illinois Air National Guard, 15 Oct 1962-. Gained by: Tactical Air Command, 16 May 1969; Air Combat Command, 1 Jun 1992; Air Mobility Command, 1 Oct 1995-.

Components. Groups, 182 Operations Group, 1 Oct 1995-. Squadrons. 169 Tactical Fighter  (later: Tactical Air Support, Fighter, Airlift) Squadron, 15 Oct 1962-.

Stations. Greater Peoria Airport (later Peoria ANGB), Il, 15 Oct 1962-.

Aircraft. VC/C-47, 1949-1972; T-33, 1955-1969; 1962-1969; U-3, 1969-1970; O-2, 1970-1979; OA-37, 1979-1992; F-16, 1992-1995; C-130, 1995-.

Operations. Tactical Fighter Mission, 1962-1969. Tactical Air Support flying Forward Air Control (FAC) missions performing visual reconnaissance. Provided relief assistance during state active duty for the Canton tornado disaster in Jul 1975. In Jan 1991, 138 group personnel were called to active duty during the 1991 Gulf War and deployed to United States Central Command Air Forces (CENTAF). Flew Air Defense mission with F-16A/B ADF, 1992-1995. Airlift mission, 1995-. Participated in flying missions for Operation Joint Endeavor in Bosnia in 1996; Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan, 2002; Operation Iraqi Freedom, 2003; Operation Inherent Resolve, 2017.
