US SPACE FORCES-SPECIAL OPERATIONS COMMAND
The U.S. Space Force established a specialized special operations component under the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) to integrate space, cyber, and special operations capabilities.
Announced by USSOCOM leadership and advanced through structural planning, building upon a pre-existing Space Force Special Operations element stationed at MacDill AFB, FL.
Function: Unlike traditional ground or air special operations units (such as Army Green Berets or AFSOC), the Space Force component does not deploy commandos to orbit or conduct boots-on-the-ground infantry combat.
Capabilities: Instead, it delivers specialized space personnel, intelligence, electronic warfare support, and satellite communications integration directly to theater special operations commands and joint forces operating in contested environments.
