1st EXPEDITIONARY SPACE CONTROL SQUADRON (AFSPC)

Lineage. Constituted as 1 Command and Control Squadron on 30 Nov 1989. Activated on 1 Dec 1989. Redesignated as 1 Space Control Squadron on 1 Oct 2001. Inactivated on 9 Jun 2008. Redesignated as 1 Expeditionary Space Control Squadron, and converted to provisional status, on 11 Feb 2009. Activated on 27 Feb 2009.

Assignments. 1 Space Wing, 1 Dec 1989; 73 Space Surveillance (later, 73 Space) Group, 28 Feb 1992; 721 Space Group, 24 Jun 1994; 21 Operations Group, 26 Apr 1995; 614 Space Operations Group, 3 May 2005; Fourteenth Air Force (Air Forces Strategic-Space), 24 May 2007-9 Jun 2008. Air Force Space Command to activate or inactivate on or at any time after 11 Feb 2009. Attached to 21 Space Wing, 27 Feb 2009-.

Stations. Cheyenne Mountain AFB (later, Cheyenne Mountain AS), CO, 1 Dec 1989; Vandenberg AFB, CA, 31 Jul 2007-9 Jun 2008. Peterson AFB, CO, 27 Feb 2009-.

Operations. Commanded the United States Space Surveillance Network to detect, track, identify and catalog positional data for all man-made objects in Earth orbit.
