83rd NETWORK OPERATIONS SQUADRON (AFSPC)

Lineage.  Constituted as 83 Communications Squadron on 24 Feb 1956.  Activated on 8 Jul 1956.  Inactivated on 11 Nov 1957.  Activated on 1 Jul 1998.  Redesignated as 83 Network Operations Squadron on 5 Jul 2006.

Assignments.  83 Air Base Group, 8 Jul 1956-11 Nov 1957.  Air Combat Command Communications Group, 1 Jul 1998; 26 Network Operations Group, 5 Jul 2006; 690 Network Support (later, 690 Cyberspace Operations) Group, 18 Aug 2009-.

Stations. Seymour-Johnson AFB, NC, 8 Jul 1956-11 Nov 1957.  Langley AFB (later: Joint Base Langley-Eustis), VA, 1 Jul 1998-. (Wright-Patterson AFB, OH, Det-3; Ramstein AB, Germany, Det-4; Joint Base Andrews, MD, Operation Location Bravo)

Operations. Command, Control, Operate, Sustain, and Defend assigned Air Force networks to assure global cyber supremacy and enforce Air Force network standards.
