Operations. WW-II. Flew resupply and reinforcement missions to combat zones, evacuated casualties, and hauled freight. Lead the IX Troop Carrier Command force in the American airborne landings in Normandy on D-Day. Dropped paratroops and towed gliders that carried reinforcements during Operation Dragoon. Transported troops and air supply missions to battle areas in Operation Market-Garden. Called to active duty as part of the Korean War call-up 10 Mar 1951-14 Mar 1951. Fighter-Bomber operations in the reserves flying F-80 and later F-86, 15 Jun 1952- 16 Nov 1957. Participated in numerous contingency, humanitarian airlift, and peacekeeping operations around the world. Provide close-air support to coalition forces in the region with A-10. Advisory role in Afghanistan in support of developing Afghanistan’s air capability. Assumed the lead role in the NATO Air Training Command-Afghanistan (NATC-A).
