Lineage. Constituted 410th Fighter Squadron on 25 May 1943. Activated on 15 Aug 1943. Inactivated on 7 Nov 1945. Redesignated 195th Fighter Squadron and allotted to ANG on 24 May 1946. 195th Fighter Squadron (SE) extended federal recognition on 29 Sep 1946. Redesignated: 195th Fighter-Bomber Squadron on 1 Mar 1951; 195th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron in Mar 1954; 195th Air Transport Squadron on 15 Jan 1960; 195th Military Airlift Squadron on 1 Jan 1966; 195th Tactical Airlift Squadron on 11 Apr 1970.  Inactivated on 30 Sep 1974. 195th Tactical Fighter Training Squadron allotted to Arizona ANG and activated on 1 Jan 1984; Redesignated: 195th Fighter Squadron on 15 Mar 1992-.

Operations. Combat in ETO, 8 May 1944-4 May 1945. Called to active duty as part of the Korean War call-up, 1 Mar 1951-1 Dec 1952. Air defense of the Los Angeles area and Southwestern US, 1954-1960. Called to active duty as part of the Berlin Crisis call-up, 1 Oct 1961-1 Sep 1963. Flew long-distance transport missions in support of USAF requirements, frequently sending aircraft to Hawaii, Japan, the Philippines, and during the Vietnam War, to both South Vietnam, Okinawa and Thailand. Replacement Training Unit to train A-7 and later F-16 combat-ready pilots for the ANG. Ground academic squadron with no aircraft assigned, 1992-1995. Training foreign non-NATO pilots to fly the F-16, 1995-.
