Lineage. Established as 150th Air Transport Squadron (Medium) and extended federal recognition on 1 Feb 1956. Redesignated 150th Aeromedical Transport Squadron (Light) on 1 Feb 1957; 150th Air Transport Squadron (Heavy) on 18 Jan 1964; 150th Military Airlift Squadron on 1 Jan 1966; 150th Aeromedical Airlift Squadron on 1 Dec 1969; 150th Tactical Airlift Squadron on 22 Jun 1973; 150th Air Refueling Squadron (Heavy) on 1 Apr 1977; 150th Air Refueling Squadron on 15 Mar 1992-.

Assignments. NJ ANG, 1 Feb 1956; 170th Air Transport Group, 18 Jan 1964; 170th Military Airlift Group, 1 Jan 1966; 170th Tactical Airlift Group, 22 Jun 1973; 170th Air Refueling Group, 1 Apr 1977; 108th Operations Group, 1 Oct 1993-.

Operations. Long distance transport, primarily passenger movements to Europe. Flew to the Caribbean,  Japan, Thailand, South Vietnam, Australia and the Philippines during the Vietnam War. Called to active duty as part of Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm call-up, 20 Dec 1990-15 May 1991.
