Operations. World War II-the 101st was assigned to fly anti-submarine patrols off the coast of New England until September 10, 1942. Deployed to the European Theater in December, 1944 to fly photo reconnaissance missions.  Cold War-US-based interception missions. Called to active duty as part of the Berlin Crisis call-up where the primary mission was to provide close air support to NATO ground forces and air interdiction.  Air Defense of Northeastern US, 1946-2008. Deployed to Panama in support of Operation Coronet Nighthawk, 1991-1995; Air defense duty in Iceland, 1995-1998; Operation Northern Watch, 1999; Operation Southern Watch, 2000; Operation Noble Eagle, 2001-2002.
